LWRP Command Reference
Livewire Routing Protocol command reference — TCP port 93, VER, SRC, DST, GPIO, LPSTAT and connection notes
LWRP — Livewire Routing Protocol
Plain-text TCP protocol for controlling Axia/Livewire devices — routing sources/destinations and reading/writing GPIO. Keep the session open; do not reconnect per command.
Connection Details
Protocol: TCP Port: 93 Session: Persistent — keep the connection open, do not reconnect per command Auth: LOGIN <password> (only if a password is set on the device) # Quick test with netcat nc <device-ip> 93 # Or PuTTY: Connection Type = Raw, Port = 93
Command Reference
| Command | Syntax | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Version / Caps | VER | Returns firmware version, source count, destination count, GPIO count |
| List Sources | SRC | Returns all source slots with current channel assignments and labels |
| Set Source | SRC <n> LIWF:<channel> | Assign source slot n to Livewire channel number — makes the device a stream originator |
| List Destinations | DST | Returns all destination slots and their current channel assignments |
| Set Destination | DST <n> LIWF:<channel> | Route destination slot n to receive the given Livewire channel |
| Read GPIs | GPI | Returns state of all GPI (input) pins |
| Read GPOs | GPO | Returns state of all GPO (output) pins |
| Set GPO | GPO <n> STAT:<0|1> | Set GPO pin n — 0 = low/active, 1 = high/inactive (inverted logic) |
| Hardware Status | LPSTAT | Extended device status — link state, PSU health (xNode devices) |
| Subscribe Source | ADD SRC <n> | Subscribe to real-time change notifications for source slot n |
| Subscribe Dest | ADD DST <n> | Subscribe to real-time change notifications for destination slot n |
Example Session
# Connect nc 192.168.1.100 93 # Device responds with version banner VER <LWRP:4.0.12 devn:"Studio A xNode" ntwk:"Studio Network" nsrc:8 ndst:8 ngpi:4 ngpo:4> # List all destinations DST # Route destination 1 to channel 1001 DST 1 LIWF:1001 # Set GPO 1 active (low) GPO 1 STAT:0 # Subscribe to destination changes ADD DST 0
GPIO Logic Reference
Livewire GPIO uses inverted logic in LWRP — the opposite of what you might expect from standard digital I/O. This is consistent with traditional broadcast tally and relay conventions.
| LWRP State | Voltage Level | Meaning | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| STAT:0 | Low (0V) | Active / Closed | Tally ON, relay closed, event triggered |
| STAT:1 | High (3.3V / 5V) | Inactive / Open | Tally OFF, relay open, idle state |
GPIO states are polled or subscribed via LWRP. Use
ADD GPI 0 to subscribe to all
GPI change events in real time rather than polling with GPI.
Livewire GPIO can be routed over the network — a GPI on one device can trigger a GPO on any
other device using the GPIO routing matrix in PathfinderPC or the Axia web UI.
Implementation Notes
Plain-text and testable. LWRP is a simple ASCII protocol. You can interact with
any Livewire device using
nc <ip> 93 or PuTTY in raw mode — no SDK required.
Great for scripting, automation, and diagnostics.
Device generation matters. LWRP behavior varies between xNodes, Livewire Drivers,
QoR nodes, and legacy Element surfaces. Command support, response formatting, and GPIO counts
differ. Always test on non-critical equipment first.
Limit concurrent connections. Making too many simultaneous LWRP connections to
a single device can cause instability or missed responses. Limit to one or two persistent connections
per device in production environments.
Pathfinder and automation. For large-scale LWRP automation, consider Telos Alliance
PathfinderPC, which provides a higher-level API, event routing, and scripting — sitting on top
of LWRP so you don't have to manage raw connections at scale.
